After a serious accident, Indiana residents may sometimes feel as though they have a hard time getting the help they need. Law enforcement can also struggle to obtain the information they need when investigating crashes and other incidents. Sometimes, other parties come through with important details that help all parties.
A 52-year-old man was found after being hit by a vehicle on a Friday evening in January on Pendleton Pike. No vehicle or driver was located at the time. The man was taken to a hospital but he was unable to survive his injuries. Reports on local media outlets prompted people to call in to law enforcement with information that helped them piece together what may have happened that night and who may have been involved.
As a result of the tips from citizens, a 30-year-old woman was eventually found and arrested for her suspected role in the death of the man. She has been charged with an accident causing death as well as leaving the scene of an accident. It is not known what penalties she may face if convicted. Also unknown is whether or not any substance use or impairment or perhaps distraction may have been involved in the wreck.
When Indiana residents are involved in accidents, reaching out to an attorney for help may provide valuable insights into how to seek justice and compensation for oneself or for the family members of anyone involved.
