Indiana residents know that drunk drivers are one of the biggest dangers they may face on the roads today. Despite clear proof that driving a vehicle after consuming alcohol is not safe, too many people continue to make this choice. Sadly, innocent citizens end up being injured or even killed as a result in many situations.
Such is the case today after an underage driver hit a car, killing three of the people inside and injuring a fourth person. Reports indicate that the family was travelling along a stretch of Interstate 69 when their vehicle hit a deer. The driver is said to have stopped and pulled to the side of the highway to wait for officers.
While waiting, a drunk driver drove into the parked vehicle. The 49-year-old driver, a 74-year-old passenger and a 17-year-old passenger were all killed in the crash. An 18-year-old passenger was injured and taken for treatment to a hospital along with the impaired driver. The drunk driver has been charged with reckless homicide and operating while intoxicated causing death. It is not known what his blood alcohol content was at the time of the crash. The impaired driver is 19 years old.
Families who lose even one let alone three people in senseless drunk driving accidents deserve help. Talking to a lawyer about compensation options may be one way of getting that help and sending the message to others that drinking and driving is dangerous.
