Delayed symptoms to watch for following a car wreck

Posted by Kenneth Doane | Feb 02, 2018 | 0 Comments

When an accident occurs, it is very important to immediately assess the damage and address any injuries that those involved in the collision have suffered. Often, car accident injuries can be immediately recognized, such as a broken bone or a deep cut. However, those involved in a motor vehicle collision should also know that there are a variety of delayed symptoms to watch out for, which might not appear until days, weeks, or even months after an accident.

Those involved in a crash should keep an eye out for various symptoms that may not be noticeable until later on, such as headaches, trouble concentrating, changes to sleeping patterns, memory problems, and constantly feeling dizzy or nauseous, which may indicate a brain injury. Moreover, people should watch out for pain in their back, neck, or shoulders, which could indicate a soft tissue injury. Even in the absence of any symptoms, it is a good idea for those who were in an accident to be evaluated by a physician, especially if they hit their head, for example.

There are various reasons why these symptoms may take time to appear. For example, a car accident victim may be under so much shock, with their body releasing endorphins and adrenaline, that pain might not be immediately evident. Furthermore, brain trauma may not be evident until some time after the wreck, when a victim or their loved one notice signs of brain damage.
